Web Insight: social media and sports content

Social media has become a popular way to access sports content. What social media channels do people use to get sports-related content and information? We put this question to people who watched sports in 2018 as part of our Digital Future Survey.

The most frequently cited source was Facebook, mentioned by 33 percent of respondents who watched sports.

This was followed by YouTube (29 percent), Instagram (20 percent), Twitter (15 percent), Snapchat (15 percent), and Reddit (six percent).

Thirty-eight percent of those respondents who watched sports said that they did not get sports-related content and information on social media channels.
