Web Insight 134xxx: is internet access important while driving?

The internet is ubiquitous. People desire and expect access everywhere, including in their cars.

In our Future of Transportation Survey, we asked how important it was for people to have internet access while driving.

Almost one fifth of respondents (19%) said that it was very important. Twice that many (38%) said it was somewhat important. On the other hand, 48% said that it was not important.

Importance varied by age. For example, only 29% of 25-34 year olds and 33% of those aged 18-24 and 35-44 said that having internet access while driving was not important. On the other hand, 44 percent of those aged 45-54, 51 percent of those in the 55-64 year old set, and 64 percent of those aged 65 and above said that such access was not important.
