Overall, do you think that new communications technologies such as the Internet, mobile phones, and tablets have made the world a better place, a worse place, or neither better nor worse?
When asked this question, users and non-users of the Internet have different views about new communications technologies. In 2012, 23.4 percent of the non-users said that these technologies have made the world a worse place, compared to only 11.3 percent of users who chose that option.
Overall, users are more positive about the constructive role of new communications technologies in the world. In 2012, more than half of users (54.9 percent) believed that new communications technologies have made the world a better place, while the percentage of non-users with the same belief was only 38 percent.
