Are you a sports fan?

In its study on sports and the media, the Center asked residents of the United States if they are a sports fans, and, if so, what kind?

Nineteen percent said that they are really into sports, classifying themselves as intense fans. Another 29% categorized themselves as moderate sports fans, while 24% indicated that they are casual fans.

On the other hand, 11% of respondents said that they are not very engaged in following sports themselves, but are a friend or companion of a sports fan, and 16% declared that they are not into sports at all, and simply not fans.

Our respondents included people in the United States age 15-74. So if we include the first three categories of people listed above as sports fans, this means that 72% of Americans between the ages of 15 and 74 consider themselves to be fans.
