Web Insight 23: How much of the information on information pages posted by individuals are generally reliable and accurate?

Over the eights years (so far) of our Internet project, users' belief in the overall credibility of Internet information has dropped. What seems to be the main reason for loss of faith in the overall reliability of the web is the realization that many of the pages and sites are run by individuals (rather than news organizations) unfamiliar to users. Belief in the credibility of web sites managed by professional news organizations has climbed over the years and remains quite high. Yet, almost no one believes that all of the information on sites posted by indivi-   duals is reliable and accurate.
